The trouble with extinction is it's forever. The trouble with bees is they are dying and we still don't really know why. It's not just bees that are on a downwards spiral. A quick search of the IUCN Red List (the place that works out whether a particular species is at risk of going extinct) shows that there are thousands of vulnerable species and they haven't got every species on their database. That's the bad news.

The good news is that there are plenty of things you can do to help the other species on this planet out both in your locally and in places far away.

Locally you can build habitats for local species like insects, birds or bats. You can switch some of your foods to organic (so that the food supply chain isn't killed off with pesticides).

Globally you can support the campaign to bring in a new law about ecocide, or change some of your purchases so that you help rather than hinder threatened species like the orangutan.

There are lots more ideas in our Biodiversity area - check it out and do something for biodiversity this weekend.
