What independent news sources would you recommend?

We like to listen to the Corbett Report and read Positive News, but look around for yourself.

What about Russia Today (RT)?

It's an alternative to the UK/USA news that for sure. However it's state owned, so interesting though it is, keep in mind they will have agendas too.

Beware of

Angry presenters

Some presenters like to whip up an angry storm without much evidence, relying on sound bites and headlines. If you like that kind of "shock jock"/"shock and awe" news then fine, if you want something with more substance and depth stay away from the shouties.
